Differentchris headlines The Attic @ Axelrad on Friday, October 9, with support from Her Favorite Band and Ashera. The night is a stop on Differentchris's Love You More Than Myself Tour, and it fits into the monthly residency that The Attic runs at Axelrad.
Axelrad Beer Garden is a Houston spot that books local, regional, and international artists across a wide range of genres—jazz, soul, and blues alongside hip hop, Latin, indie, electronic, experimental, world, ska, punk, pop, rock, and classical. The garden also plays video art and film screenings alongside live music and festivals, including the venue's own three-day RADFEST. Past performers there include Ruben Albarran of Cafe Tacvba, Thee Sacred Souls, Lower Dens, Washed Out, Neon Indian, Twin Shadow, Paul Banks, Black Pumas, and Kermit Ruffins.
The site itself has some history: Axelrad Beer Garden occupies the premises of a former grocery store built by the Axelrad family in the early 1920s, and the current owners set out to carry on that tradition of being an open and welcoming place for all. The Attic is the indoor space within that larger complex.
