A festive all-ages celebration of Día de los Muertos featuring a traditional ofrenda, live Mariachi and Baile Folklórico, Mexican street food stations, and a best-dressed contest.
URBE is hosting a Día de los Muertos celebration on Saturday, October 31, from 7 to 11 PM at its Uptown Park location in Houston. The whole evening is built around the restaurant's ofrenda, a traditional altar dedicated to honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed, and it's set up as an all-ages event.
The program mixes live music and dance throughout the night: Mariachi, a DJ, and Baile Folklórico fill the hours, and there's a best-dressed contest for those who come in costume. On the food side, Chef Ivan and the URBE culinary team run Mexican street food stations serving tacos callejeros with carnitas and suadero, pozole verde, and ceviche, with gorditas, taquitos de pollo, chicharrón, sopes, and huarachitos passed around.
