Weekly concert series celebrating Texas music with a night of punk, noise rock and hip-hop at Discovery Green.
Discovery Green is launching a new free weekly concert series called Deep in the Heart, running every Thursday from October 8 to November 7, 2026. The shows take place on the Anheuser-Busch Stage, an outdoor venue with the downtown Houston skyline as the backdrop. The series is built to celebrate the sounds of the Lone Star State and bring people together in the heart of the city.
The bill covers a wide stretch of Texas music, from Americana, country, and Tejano to indie rock, blues, folk, roots, hip-hop, and punk. Over five weeks, the lineup moves through these styles, with each night featuring a different set of artists. October 8 opens with EZ Band and Bombón. October 15 brings Chaparelle with Rodell Duff and DJ Vinyl Ranch. October 22 features 30footFALL with Municipal Bats and DJ Mexican Blackbird. October 29 has David Michael Wyatt with DJ Big Reeks, and November 7 closes with Cure For Paranoia, Jumprope, and DJ Bloom.
Two of the names on the bill come from the heavier side of the city's scene. 30footFALL is a Houston punk band that's been playing since 1993, so they've been around long enough to be a local fixture. Municipal Bats, a noise rock trio formed in 2020, describes their sound as a blend of post-punk tension, industrial grit, and Southern sludge. They'll be sharing the stage on October 22.
