Weekly free concert series showcasing the best of Texas music, including Americana, blues, country, hip-hop, indie, punk rock, and Tejano.
Deep in the Heart: A Texas Music Series is running through October and into early November at Discovery Green, with shows every Thursday from 7 to 9 PM. It's a new free weekly concert series from the park, put together to showcase Texas music and celebrate the sounds of the Lone Star State.
The range is wide—Americana, country, and Tejano alongside indie rock, blues, folk, roots, hip-hop, and punk. The goal is to highlight the depth and diversity of the state's musicians while creating a community gathering in the heart of downtown. The shows take place on the Anheuser-Busch Stage, a state-of-the-art outdoor space with the Houston skyline as its backdrop, facing the Fondren Performance Space.
There are four Thursday nights in October: the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. On October 22, the bill features 30footfall, Municipal Bats, and DJ Mexican Blackbird. The series then adds a Saturday date on November 7, which was rescheduled from October 1.
