A cumbia dance party featuring live bands and DJs, with a Shop Local Market and food vendors, for 21+ only.
Cumbia Libre returns to Axelrad this Friday, October 9, as part of its monthly run. It's a night built around live cumbia bands, producers and DJs, and it's billed as Houston's biggest cumbia dance party. The lineup this time features two live bands and a DJ, so the music stays live and loud throughout the night rather than just switching to records once the bands pack up.
Axelrad hosts the party every second Friday of the month, so if you miss this one, there's another coming around in a few weeks. The venue is known for booking local, regional and international artists across a wide range of genres, and Cumbia Libre is one of its regulars. The night is for 21+ only, so bring your ID.
It's not just about the music, either. The party makes room for a Shop Local Market, so you can browse local vendors between sets, and Bomberos Tacos is on hand for food. Between the bands, the DJ, the market and the tacos, there's plenty to do if you're not spending the whole night on the dance floor.

Entry is free, and the party runs from 7 PM to 2 AM. That's a long window, so you can come early for the market and tacos and stay late for the dancing, or just drop in whenever you're ready. Axelrad is at 1517 Alabama St, Houston, TX 77004.
