A classical music concert by the ensemble Classique! So Chic! showcasing the works of queer composers from different eras, presented as part of Pride Chorus Houston's season.
Classique! So Chic! is bringing Queer Composers: Then and Now to the Cullen Theater at the Wortham Center on Friday, October 16. The program reaches across time to showcase the voices of queer composers from different eras, putting them on the same stage rather than keeping them in separate boxes. It's a way of hearing how those voices connect across the centuries, and the title Then and Now points exactly to that: the older names and the newer ones side by side.
The concert is presented as a partner event and forms part of Pride Chorus Houston's three-concert season, which runs from October through June. That means this is one of three main dates they've got lined up for the year, so it's a good starting point if you're getting into their full season. The season itself stretches from the fall into the early summer, with this being one of the first stops on the calendar.
