Candi Jenkins, a roots artist blending country, bluegrass and Americana, performs a trio at McGonigel's.
Candi Jenkins plays McGonigel's Mucky Duck on Tuesday, October 13, performing as a trio. Jenkins is a singer-songwriter from Fayette County, Kentucky, and her sound pulls from traditional country, Appalachian bluegrass, and Americana. On stage, she's backed by twins Wayne and Wayne Jenkins, both from Irvine, Kentucky.
It's a roots-leaning set that sits right at the intersection of those three styles. The country side comes through in the songwriting, the bluegrass in the Appalachian influence, and the Americana in the way they all blend together. With the trio format, you'll hear Jenkins' voice front and center, supported by the twins on the instruments.
Jenkins has spent the last few years building a name on the road. Her songwriting has earned her opening slots for Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, and the Steep Canyon Rangers, and she's also opened for Clay Street Unit and Andy Frasco. She played South by Southwest in 2025 and Luck Reunion in 2026 at Willie Nelson's ranch outside Austin, so she's no stranger to the Texas circuit.

There's new music on the horizon, too. She's currently recording her debut album with Andrija Tokic at The Bomb Shelter, with the new songs set to release this summer. This show comes as she's working through that material, so it's a good time to catch her live before the record is out. The show is at 7 PM on Tuesday, October 13, at McGonigel's Mucky Duck in Houston.
