A free guided wellness walk led by Laura Conely through Buffalo Bayou Park, exploring the history of the Cistern and the connection between health and nature.
Buffalo Bayou Partnership is hosting a free guided wellness walk through Buffalo Bayou Park on Wednesday, October 14, starting at 6:30 PM. Laura Conely will lead the group along the bayou, talking about health and nature as you go. It's a low-key way to spend a Wednesday evening—just walking and talking while you take in the park.
The walk starts at The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park, 105-B Sabine St, which sits right on top of the Cistern, a decommissioned water reservoir. The route follows the bayou, and the walk takes in that history as it goes. You'll pass the Brown Foundation Lawn, a grassy plateau framed by trees that opens up a view of the downtown skyline—it's a popular spot for performances and events, with the Hobby Family Pavilion nearby. The Wortham Insurance Visitor Center is also on site, so there are restrooms available and a bike rental facility that runs on weekends.
