Concert by Texas Americana and folk songwriter Bryan Jack at McGonigel's Mucky Duck.
Bryan Jack plays McGonigel's Mucky Duck on Saturday, October 17, at 8 PM, with the music starting at 8:30 PM. He's a Texas songwriter and Americana artist, a fourth-generation Austin native, and this is a headlining set.
Much of the night will center on his debut album, The Marfa Drive, which came out on March 12, 2026. It's eleven tracks written to be heard in sequence, inspired by road trips, wide-open landscapes, and the Texas desert—which he uses as both a setting and a metaphor. The record blends Americana storytelling with the grit of rock and country, drawing on West Texas scenery and a lineage of troubadours like Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler, Mickey Newbury, and Guy Clark. If you're familiar with those names, you've got a good sense of where he's coming from.
The emotional core of the album centers on themes of survival, redemption, and the fragile beauty of being alive. Jack has cited faith, nature, music, science, and love as the foundations of his songwriting, and those themes run through the songs.
