Concert by the alternative, post-hardcore band Balance and Composure at the Bad Astronaut Brewing Co. in Houston.
Balance and Composure play Bad Astronaut Brewing Co. on Monday, November 9. The Pennsylvania band is touring their fourth LP, with you in spirit, which came out October 4 through Memory Music.
It's their first full-length in eight years, following a four-year hiatus. They recorded it with Grammy nominee Will Yip, and vocalist and guitarist Jon Simmons describes the record as an intensely self-reflective one—an atmospheric collection of melodic post-punk and towering rock. That's a good way to frame what they do: they've always sat across a few different sounds, and the new material keeps that spirit alive.
If you're still getting a handle on them, they're an alternative, post-hardcore, emo, indie and punk band from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. They've built their name around that overlap, and with you in spirit is the first time they've put a full record out since their hiatus ended. It's their fourth album, so it's a good place to jump in if you're coming to them fresh.
