A comedy open mic night featuring some of Houston's best comedians, presented by The Secret Group at its Polk Street venue.
Back of the Bus is back at The Secret Group on Thursday, November 5, from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM. It's a comedy open mic presented by The Secret Group at their Polk Street venue, a room that regularly gathers some of Houston's best comedians and leaves the door open for the audience to get up and tell their own jokes. The night runs for about two hours, and sign-ups open an hour before showtime, so if you've got a few bits you've been working on, you can get your name on the list and take the stage yourself.
Because it's an open mic, the lineup changes every time. You'll hear a mix of local regulars and people just passing through, and since the audience can jump in, the room can shift from a standard showcase to a real community thing. It's one of those nights where you might see a seasoned comic testing out new material right next to someone doing their first five minutes. The Secret Group describes it as a room that brings together some of the city's best comedians while keeping the door open for the crowd to join in.
