An evening stroll with open studios, gallery exhibitions, live music and refreshments at The Silos at Sawyer Yards.
The Silos at Sawyer Yards hosts the Autumn Sip & Stroll on Thursday, October 15, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's a free evening open to the public, and the format is exactly what the name says: you walk the grounds, pop into open studios, and check out gallery exhibitions while refreshments are served. Live music comes from Russell Garcia.
If you haven't spent much time there, the venue itself is a good reason to go. The Silos is one of Houston's most recognizable silo buildings—34 rice silos converted into 97 workspaces for more than 100 artists. It's also home to SITE Gallery Houston, an alternative art space built right inside the silos themselves. The whole place is a working hub for the city's visual arts community, and this is one of those nights when the doors stay open for anyone to wander through.
The evening is billed as an intimate look into the studios of some of the city's finest visual artists. You'll find open studios and gallery exhibitions to walk through, with refreshments on hand and the chance to meet the artists as you go. It's less of a formal gallery opening and more of a stroll through the working spaces where the art actually gets made.
