A choral concert by the Houston Masterworks Chorus that reflects on the future through music, honouring the ideals that shaped the country's founding.
Houston Masterworks Chorus opens its 2026-2027 concert season with America Will Be on Sunday, October 11, at St. Philip Presbyterian Church. The chorus is an auditioned ensemble of dedicated singers led by Artistic Director Dr. Justin Langham, and this is the first of four programs they'll perform over the next several months.
America Will Be pairs music with readings to honor the ideals that shaped the country's founding and the enduring hope that continues to call toward a more perfect union. The program reflects on the promise, the questions, and the hopes of those who came to these shores seeking new beginnings. It's a thoughtful way to start the season, blending song and spoken word around a single theme.
This is just the beginning of a full year for the group. Following this, they'll perform Carols & Lullabies in December 2026, Away to the Skies in February 2027, and Carmina Burana at 90 in May 2027. If you're interested in singing rather than just listening, membership in the chorus is $100 for the full season and $50 for a half season, with financial scholarships available.
