A concert by the Aga Khan Master Musicians, an ensemble of seven musicians from five countries exploring the musical traditions of Asia and the Mediterranean.
The Aga Khan Master Musicians play The Ismaili Center Houston on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 7:30 PM. It's a concert presented in partnership with the Center, and the lineup brings together seven musicians and seven instruments from five different countries. They're joined by two French collaborators, and together they're writing new music along the old routes that link Asia and the Mediterranean.
That's the core of how they work: each tradition stays audible, and no single one is in charge. They describe the ensemble as a single unit in which these traditions meet in real time, rather than one playing over the other. It's a conversation between different musical heritages happening on stage.
The lineup is a wide spread of instruments. Wu Man plays pipa; Basel Rajoub handles saxophone and duclar; Feras Charestan is on qanun; Yurdal Tokcan plays oud; Abbos Kosimov plays doira; and Vincent Peirani and Vincent SΓ©gal are on cello. Between them, they cover a huge stretch of geography and sound, and the whole group works as one.
