DACAMERA Young Artists celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a free chamber and jazz concert in the Wortham Center.
DACAMERA Young Artists take the stage at the Wortham Theater Center on Wednesday, October 7, for a free noon concert in the Grand Foyer. It's the season opener for A Little Day Music, the free monthly series DACAMERA presents on the first Wednesday of each month, and this one doubles as their celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The program stays within that theme, pulling from a few different eras and styles. They'll play Gustavo Campa's Three Miniatures for String Quartet and Elisenda Fábregas's Terra encesa, alongside Isaac Albéniz's Triana from Iberia, Book II and María Grever's Jurame. It's a mix of contemporary and classic Spanish-language works, all fitting under the Hispanic Heritage umbrella.
Six young musicians are on the bill: Rebecca Benjamin on viola, Claire Druffner on cello, Hanna Frampton as mezzo soprano, Miranda Hollingsworth and Evan Llafet on violin, and Sean Terada Yang on piano. The series is led by DACAMERA Artistic Director Sarah Rothenberg, and the company describes its core values as connection, exploration, and excellence.

A Little Day Music is built for a midday break—one hour of music in the Grand Foyer, with the audience encouraged to eat their lunch while they listen. It's a regular draw for downtown professionals, senior citizens, and students, all of whom can drop in for the hour. The concert runs from 12 PM to 1 PM at the Wortham, 501 Texas Ave, and admission is free.
