The 28th Annual Eastwood Home Tour celebrates the neighbourhood's heritage with six historic properties to explore, showcasing early 20th-century architecture.
The 28th Annual Eastwood Home Tour returns to the East End District on Saturday, October 17, marking more than a quarter-century of walking through one of Houston's earliest planned neighborhoods. The tour takes you through six stops—one a farm and the rest historic homes—across a neighborhood that's been around since the first lots went on sale in June 1912. It officially opened in September 1913, planned by developer William A. Wilson, and it's known for holding one of the city's largest intact collections of early 20th-century architecture. On a single afternoon, you'll see Craftsman, Arts and Crafts, Foursquare, Tudor, and Mission styles side by side.
Among the stops is one of the first three homes ever built in the neighborhood, which earned a Good Brick Award from Preservation Houston in 2006. You'll also see the restored 1920s L.M. Greco building. The tour is organized by the Eastwood Civic Association, and the proceeds go to them, as well as to local schools and charities.
