Celebrate Nigerian culture with contests, giveaways, food, music and dance for all ages, featuring a grand cultural parade and the Naija Culture Hub.
The 10th Annual Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival comes to Discovery Green on Saturday, October 17, from 12 PM to 7 PM. It's a milestone year for the event, which has grown over a decade into the official and largest cultural celebration of Nigeria in downtown Houston. This is also the first time it's landing at Discovery Green, so it's a new chapter for a tradition that's become one of the city's most colorful days.
The day fills the park with a grand cultural parade, an Afrobeat dance challenge, traditional showcases, and a festival marketplace. There are contests and giveaways throughout, and authentic Nigerian cuisine to eat. On the main stage, you'll find cultural group presentations running across the afternoon. All ages are welcome, so it works as a family outing as much as a solo trip.
New to this edition is the Naija Culture Hub, a cultural installation designed to capture the energy of Lagos, the spirit of the marketplace, youth creativity, and the evolving story of the Nigerian diaspora. The organizers, Nigeria Cultural Parade, brought the event to life with Culturally Naija and Welead, Inc. Their message is that no passport is required—only a willingness to experience culture in full color.
