The Bombadils play the Little Dutch Church on Friday, September 18, as part of the Tiny Church Concert Series. They're a Halifax band, and this is one of their home-city dates. They were named Vocal Group of the Year at the 2024 Canadian Folk Music Awards, a nod to their stirring lyrics, intertwining string-band arrangements and bluegrass leanings.
The show is part of the Tiny Church Concert Series, which Thomas McCallum started in 2025 out of a lifelong love of singing in the small churches and halls of the Maritimes. The venue, the Little Dutch Church at 2393 Brunswick Street, is the second oldest building in Halifax, dating to 1756. It's the site of a mass grave of early German settlers and is marking its 270th year alongside St. George's 225th Anniversary.

Admission is by donation, and the series splits those donations between the artists and the Rector's Discretionary Fund, an emergency fund for people facing last-minute rent or power bill payments, groceries or medicine. Card, cash and e-transfer are all accepted. One practical thing to keep in mind: there's no washroom or running water on-site, so plan accordingly. The music runs from 7:00 to 8:00 pm, with doors opening at 6:40 pm.
