A dance party night featuring the local band Rec Room Jams Band at The Carleton.
Rec Room Jams Band are playing The Carleton on Friday, August 21, from 8 to 11 p.m. It's a TGIF dance party, so the whole night is built around getting people on their feet rather than sitting and listening. The band is local, and they're the only act on the bill, so the set runs through the evening.
If you haven't spent much time there, The Carleton is a landmark music venue and award-winning bar and restaurant in downtown Halifax, located at 1685 Argyle Street. It's a room that's stayed very much itself under new ownership, and it hosts live music most nights of the week. Chef Michael Dolente serves elevated comfort food, with matchstick frites and aioli cited as a favourite since opening. There's also a licensed patio that seats 75, and a happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. with half-price draft and apps, which makes it easy to arrive early and settle in before the music starts.
