Tayler Jade makes a Halifax debut at The Carleton on Thursday, August 20, with Burry opening the night. It's Jade's first time playing the city, and they're sharing the bill with a local face.
Jade is an emerging folk-pop songwriter from the East Coast who blends catchy pop hooks with sentimental acoustic moments, uplifting folk arrangements and deeply honest songwriting. Their live shows are described as intimate and authentic, with storytelling at the heart of the performance and powerful, unconventional harmonies. It's the kind of set that leans on the songwriting rather than the spectacle.
Opening for them is Burry, a non-binary musician from Halifax who combines indie and pop. Their work addresses personal and societal issues like mental health, queerness and the struggles of living as a marginalised individual, drawing on their own experiences with depression and anxiety. Between the two, the night covers a fair bit of ground, from Jade's folk-pop to Burry's indie-pop, and both put their own lives at the centre of what they do.
