A night for the Halifax music community featuring an open mic session followed by an open jam session, with a full drum kit provided for participants.
Rox Live hosts Band's Night Out on Thursday, August 13, at 1743 Grafton Street in downtown Halifax. It's a night built for the local music community, designed for musicians, solo artists and music lovers to unwind, connect and collaborate in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. All comers are welcome and all genres are encouraged to take part, whether you're a singer, guitarist, drummer, bassist or keyboardist, regardless of skill level.
The night is split into two halves. The first works as an open mic, giving artists a chance to perform their own sound. The second half turns into an open jam where musicians can jump in and play together. A full drum kit is provided, so drummers only need to bring their breakables. It's hosted by Sean and runs every second Thursday, doubling as a networking night for local players to meet, swap contacts and line up future gigs.
If you're a musician, it's a low-stakes way to get on stage and meet other people playing in the city. If you're just coming to listen, you'll hear a mix of solo sets and collaborative jams that change every time. It's as much about the people you meet between songs as it is about the music itself.
