A Pride dance event with DJ Mohammad making his Atlantic Canada debut, alongside local DJs Aris and Disrespects; proceeds benefit the Halifax Sexual Health Centre.
DJ Mohammad makes his Atlantic Canada debut at The Marquee Ballroom on Friday, July 24, as part of the closing weekend of Halifax Pride. The night is called Halo/Hedon, and it's a dual-room takeover of both the Ballroom and the Seahorse Tavern, put on by Nauticus Events in collaboration with VIX. Mohammad comes from San Francisco, and his sound pulls from underground house, progressive, tech, tribal, and circuit styles. Local DJs Aris and Disrespects are on the bill too.
The name Halo/Hedon points to how the night is split into two distinct realms: HALO, which they describe as celestial beats, and HEDON, focused on shadow and temptation. You can move between the two throughout the night, so you can lean into the lighter side or the darker one as you feel it. The production side is handled by Nauticus, with lasers and lighting by Wasko AV.
It's a nonprofit event, and the proceeds go to the Halifax Sexual Health Centre, a charitable organization that provides inclusive, non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health services to the community, including youth and the 2SLGBTQ+ population. So, whatever you pay ends up supporting their work.

Things kick off at 9:00 pm on Friday, July 24, and run through to 2:00 am on Saturday, July 25. Tickets are C$35 to C$50, with a pay-what-you-can option available. The Marquee Ballroom is at 2037 Gottingen Street.
