An outdoor Latin dance night featuring a free beginner salsa lesson and social dancing overlooking the Halifax harbour.
Salsa on the Waterfront is back at Salt Yard Social on Friday, July 24, for another outdoor Latin dance night on the Halifax waterfront. It's one of those summer evenings that brings together locals, visitors, and the city's Latin dance community for a few hours of music and dancing right by the water.
The night starts with a free beginner-friendly salsa lesson, which is a good way to get your bearings if you've never danced before. After that, it opens up into social dancing overlooking the harbour, so you can keep moving as long as you like. You don't need a partner to join in, and you don't need any previous experience either—the lesson is there to get you started, and the social dancing that follows is open to everyone regardless of their level.

It's an outdoor event, so you'll be dancing in the open air with the harbour as your backdrop. The whole thing runs from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and it's free to attend. If you've been wanting to try salsa but weren't sure where to start, this is a low-pressure way to do it: a free lesson to get you moving, followed by a few hours of social dancing with the waterfront around you. It's at Salt Yard Social, 1603 Saltyard Wy, Halifax, NS B3J 1S2, on Friday, July 24, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and it's free.
