Halifax-based Americana band Newbridge performs with support from Jackson Weldon at The Carleton.
Newbridge play their first-ever show at The Carleton on Saturday, September 19, with Jackson Weldon opening. It's a Halifax band, and they're billed as the city's newest 'pretty-close-to-supergroup' — a lineup of Canadian music veterans who've spent years in different circles. Keith Maddison comes from Maddison Avenue, Glen Nicholson from In-Flight Safety, Jeff Mosher from The Mellotones and Matt Andersen's band, and Warren Robert has worked with Myles Goodwyn and Pogey. Rounding them out is Nashville-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Robbie Crowell, who's worked with Sturgill Simpson, Deer Tick, Midland, and Matt Mays.
They cut their debut album at Nashville's Creative Workshop Studio, and the sound draws on The Band, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, and Stan Rogers — a mix of roots, Americana, and singer-songwriter traditions. Since then, they've picked up a Music Nova Scotia Americana nomination and a sync publishing deal with Rough Trade NYC, with their music appearing on Hockey Night in Canada, Hockey Day in Canada, and Toronto Blue Jays broadcasts on Sportsnet. This is the first time they're taking those songs to a stage.

The Carleton is a standing-room room with limited seating, and it's won ECMA Venue of the Year, so if you're hoping for a seat, getting there by 7 PM is a good call. The show runs from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with Jackson Weldon supporting Newbridge. Tickets are C$20 plus HST, which comes to C$22.80 including taxes.
