Mat Hughes with Sadie Skinner

Mat Hughes plays St. Matthew's United Church on Saturday, October 24, with his full band and special guest Sadie Skinner. The night is a celebration of his debut full-length album, which comes after a string of EPs: South-Facing Dumpster, The Motions (2024), and The Foreseeable Future (2023). That last one paired foot-tapping, hi-fi instrumentation with what he describes as wry, metaconscious lyricism.

Hughes is a Halifax-based singer-songwriter and piano virtuoso whose storytelling has taken him from dive bars and DIY house shows to touring across Canada and playing hundreds of stages in Nova Scotia, where he's regarded as one of the province's most original talents. This show brings him back to the city with a full band behind him, and Sadie Skinner opening the evening.

Doors open at 7:00 PM at St. Matthew's United Church, 1479 Barrington Street, with the music to follow. Tickets are C$20 in advance and C$25 at the door.
