Canadian folk musician Lennie Gallant performs live at the Light House Arts Centre in Halifax.
Lennie Gallant plays the Light House Arts Centre on Wednesday, December 9, 2026. He's an East Coast songwriter from Prince Edward Island who has released sixteen albums of original material, and this is a solo bill.
There's a fair bit of history to catch up on if you're not already familiar. Gallant has picked up JUNO, Les Prix Éloizes, and ECMA awards and nominations over the years. His song 'Peter's Dream', written about the state of the oceans and the people who harvest from them, was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and one of his albums actually travelled aboard the International Space Station. He performs internationally with his own band and with symphony orchestras, and he toured with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers as well as David Foster. He co-wrote two songs on Buffett's final album and was invited to sing on it as a featured artist. He's also a member of the Order of Canada.
He's coming off a strong run lately. He was named 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards Solo Artist of the Year for Shelter From the Storms, an album that a Roots Music critics poll placed among the top ten folk albums of 2025. Outside of his solo work, he records and performs as part of the Francophone duo Sirène et Matelot with his partner Patricia Richard. He's known as a storyteller and a humanitarian, and the songwriting that sits at the centre of his career is what you'll hear here.
