Kim Churchill (Australia)

Kim Churchill plays The Carleton on Tuesday, September 22, his first Halifax show. He's an Australian songwriting surfer who's spent the last 15 years touring the world from the back of three camper vans, playing a couple of thousand shows along the way. He's as well known internationally as he is at home, with headline slots and festival appearances at Glastonbury, Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Montreal Jazz and Telluride Blues, and support slots for Milky Chance, Ziggy Alberts, Sons of the East and Billy Bragg.

On stage he plays alone, accompanied only by a kick drum, tambourine and psychedelic harmonica. It's a stripped-back setup that carries the whole set. His record Window to the Sky went platinum in Australia, and he's picked up Gold albums for Silence/Win (2015), Weight_Falls (2017), Dawn Sounds (2023) and It's Lovely To Have You Here (2024). Between those, he's been a regular on the festival circuit, and this is his first time bringing that live act to Halifax.

The show runs from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at The Carleton, and tickets are C$34.20, which is the C$30 ticket price plus HST.
