Country music artist Jon Cyr performs live at The Carleton, joined by his son Donavan Cyr.
Jon Cyr is back at The Carleton on Friday, August 14, and this time he's bringing his son, Donavan Cyr, along for the ride. It's a country night in Halifax, and the two of them sharing the stage is the whole point of the evening.
Jon is a country artist from Lower Sackville, known for a powerful voice and a set that pulls from a few different places: country, classic rock, East Coast favourites, and modern hits, all held together by storytelling. He's open about who he listens to, citing Merle Haggard, Travis Tritt, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and Zach Top as his influences. He's also a husband and father, which brings the family connection of the night into focus.
Donavan is 25, born and raised in Halifax, and grew up watching his father perform across the Maritimes. He didn't start playing himself until three years ago, when Jon gifted him a guitar during a navy deployment. That guitar led him to start performing live, and now he's an emerging country artist in his own right. This show marks Jon's return to The Carleton stage, and having Donavan join him makes it a different kind of homecoming.

The set runs from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and general admission is C$15 plus HST, which comes to C$17.10 including taxes. It's a full evening of country music with father and son sharing the bill.
