Skye Wallace, Mick Davis and Freya Milliken play The Carleton on Tuesday, September 29, as part of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival. It's one of the festival's storytelling songwriters' circles, a format that puts songwriters together in an intimate room rather than booking them as straight-ahead opening acts. The night is one of several the festival runs across the city from September 27 to October 3.
Skye Wallace comes from Toronto. Her voice, unflinching lyricism and live show draw on years on the road, and her album The Act of Living carries the tagline 'Life is a death cult'. Its breakout single cracked the Canadian alternative radio chart, and the record earned a Globe and Mail 'Best 4 Canadian Albums in the World' nod in 2019.
Mick Davis is a Canadian singer-songwriter and founder of the rock group The Novaks. A near thirty-year veteran, he's opened for KISS, The White Stripes and The Psychedelic Furs, and he won MusicNL's 2025 Ron Hynes Songwriter of the Year Award. Freya Milliken is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose debut EP Wholeheartedly explores queer love, longing and joy.
