Lloyd Spiegel plays The Carleton on Wednesday, September 30, as part of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival. It's his first time back in the city in eight years, so if you've seen him before, it's been a while.
Spiegel is an Australian blues artist who's spent 30 of his 40 years touring the globe. He grew up on stage, learning from and touring with the founding fathers of modern blues, and he's a 14-time Australian Blues Award winner. He's known for his guitar wizardry, powerful lyrics, and a knack for humorous storytelling, so the set should be as much about the stories as the songs.
The Carleton draws a comparison between him and Matt Andersen, adding that he has the chops, the songs, the voice, and the stories to back it up. Between the guitar work and the storytelling, it's a good fit for a folk festival night.
