Singer-songwriter Haley Blais performs live at The Carleton as part of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival 2026.
Haley Blais plays The Carleton on Sunday, September 27, as part of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival. She's a Vancouver-based singer-songwriter with a bit of an unusual path to this stage: she spent ten years singing classical opera before building a following as a teenager through diaristic YouTube videos and tender ukulele covers. That early, personal way of sharing songs still sits close to the surface of her work.
Her debut album, Below the Salt, came out in 2020, produced with indie staples Tennis and Louise Burns, and she's signed to Arts & Crafts. Her sophomore record, Wisecrack, is a concept album about the formation of new families amidst the dissolution of her parents' relationship. Between the two, she's built a global live act with more than 48,800 fans and over 126,200 monthly streams, with viral hits like 'Coolest fucking bitch in town', 'Survivor's Guilt', and 'Sweet Surrender'.
