Concert by Halifax singer-songwriter Doug Hawco at The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse.
Doug Hawco plays The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse on Friday, October 2, starting at 10:00 p.m. He's a Halifax singer-songwriter, so this is a local night in his own city.
If you're not familiar with his work, Hawco writes across genres rather than sticking to one. He draws on the rock of U2 and Ryan Adams, the country of Garth Brooks, and the traditional styles of Great Big Sea. It's a wide net to cast, and that's exactly what he does — pulling from rock, country, and folk all in the same set. He's performed more than 1,000 shows around the world, so he's well-used to the stage.
One of his more recent records is Life on the Water, his second full-length album, which came out in February 2017. It's a good place to start if you want to get a sense of where he's been before you see him live. Between that and the influences he lists, you can get a feel for the kind of ground he covers: the rock side, the country side, and the folk side, often all in one night.

It's a late one, though — 10:00 p.m. on a Friday night at The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse, 5136 Prince Street in Halifax. If you're planning to be there, keep in mind it's a late start, so you've got plenty of time to get settled before he takes the stage.
