Deep Purple with Special Guest Kansas

Deep Purple are playing the Scotiabank Centre on Saturday, August 15, with Kansas and Jefferson Starship joining them on the bill. It's a triple bill of classic rock from three different sides of the Atlantic, all on one night in Halifax.

Deep Purple are the headliners here, a British rock institution that's sold more than 100 million albums and went into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. For a lot of people, the name brings to mind the MKII line-up — Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore — the one that put out the early-1970s albums that defined the band's sound, Made In Japan among them.

Kansas takes the second slot. They started as a Topeka garage band and put out their debut in 1974, and since then they've sold over 30 million albums worldwide. You'll likely know them from the quadruple-platinum single "Carry On Wayward Son," and from albums like Leftoverture and Point of Know Return. Jefferson Starship rounds out the bill, described as one of the most successful arena rock groups of the 1970s and 80s.

Between the three of them, that's a lot of ground to cover in one evening. Tickets start at C$55 plus fees, and the whole thing goes down on Saturday, August 15, at the Scotiabank Centre.
