A day party featuring Afrobeats, amapiano and party anthems from Mr Jay & Friends at The Decks in downtown Halifax, presented by Rhythm & Vibes Hfx.
Mr Jay & Friends are taking over The Decks on Saturday 8 August for a day party that runs from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It's presented by Rhythm & Vibes Hfx, an event organiser that's picked up a 4/5 rating from people who've been to their nights, so you've got a good sense of who's behind it.
The music is the whole point here. The set is built around Afrobeats and amapiano, with party anthems mixed in to keep the energy up throughout the afternoon. If you're not familiar, Afrobeats brings the West African sound, and amapiano is the deep house style that's come out of South Africa—both are made for dancing, and they'll be the main focus of the day. The organisers describe it as bringing the heat and good times nonstop, which fits the day party format: you start in the late afternoon and dance through until the evening.
There are a few practical things to keep in mind before you head down. The party is 19+, so you'll need a valid government-issued photo ID to get through the door. There are no refunds on tickets, so make sure the date works for you before you commit.

As for the cost, there's an Early Bird option that's free, with 100 of those free tickets available. Once those are gone, general admission is C$23. The Decks is at 1732 Argyle Street in downtown Halifax, and the music runs from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday 8 August.
