If you're not familiar with the name, you've almost certainly heard his work. Born in Hull, Quebec, Lanois is a producer and composer known for atmospheric, vintage-toned rock and ambient music. He's spent decades behind the glass for some of the biggest names in music, including U2, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, and Brian Eno. He picked up a Grammy for his work on The Joshua Tree, so when he steps out from the control room and onto the stage, he's bringing a career's worth of that studio sensibility with him.
That atmospheric, vintage sound is exactly what he does on his own—rock that leans into mood and texture rather than just a loud guitar. It's the kind of music that works as well when you're really listening as it does when it's just filling the room.
