A five-course dinner pairing competing Darty and Propeller beers, with guests choosing the winning brewery.
Darty and Propeller go head to head at The Carleton on Wednesday, December 16, as part of the Craft Draught Showdown, a series that pits local breweries against each other over the course of a single evening. The format is a five-course dinner, with each course paired to two 4 oz. pours—one from each brewery—selected by the competing brewmasters. By the end of the night, the guests decide which brewery takes the win.
Chef Mathias Probst and his team handle the food, building the five courses around the beers. Throughout the evening, the chefs and brewmasters join the audience to talk through the story behind each pairing, so you get to hear the thinking from the people who actually made the beer and the food. It's a long dinner, and you're drinking ten pours in total—five from each brewery—so come hungry and ready to compare.
This is one of several showdowns The Carleton has run, with other local breweries like The Church, Smokehouse, Schoolhouse, North, Annapolis, Tanner Co, Brig Barq, and Garrison having gone through the same process. Darty and Propeller are the two on the bill this time, and the brewmasters are the ones picking the beers that will represent them across the five courses.
