Concert by the JUNO-nominated folk duo Cassie and Maggie at The Sanctuary Arts Centre.
Cassie and Maggie play The Sanctuary Arts Centre on Friday, October 23, with Traverse and Nic Gareiss opening the bill. The sisters are from right here in Halifax, and they've put out five studio albums to date, the most recent being Gold and Coal.
They're a JUNO-nominated folk duo, and between them they've picked up more than 17 Canadian Folk Music, East Coast Music and Music Nova Scotia awards and nominations. Their sound weaves deep Celtic heritage with contemporary influences, so it's folk that doesn't just look back. If you've followed them for a while, you'll know that's the thread they've kept running across those five records, and Gold and Coal is the latest addition to that run.

They're not the only ones on the bill that night. Traverse and Nic Gareiss open for them, so there are three acts in total. The show starts at 7:30 PM ADT at The Sanctuary Arts Centre, which is at 100 Ochterloney Street in downtown Dartmouth, just across the harbour from the Halifax core. Tickets are C$42.00.
