The Halifax Mooseheads have spent the summer tearing up the roster, and the result lands on the ice in about a week. The 2026-27 regular season runs from Saturday, September 19 to Saturday, March 20, with the home opener set for that first Saturday against the Moncton Wildcats at 7:00 PM at the Scotiabank Centre. It is a busy stretch for a team that has been in a state of constant motion since the off-season began.

General Manager Cam Russell has been active on the trade market. In August, the Mooseheads brought in Nathan Langlois from the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and William Hughes from the Collingwood Blues, while Nico Uschan and Paul Sintschnig joined from Villacher SV in late July. On the other side, Alec Nasreddine went to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens for a 2029 QMJHL draft pick, Caylen Blake also headed to Chicoutimi, and Liam Kilfoil was traded to the Moncton Wildcats. The roster was trimmed further at the end of August, when Russell released forwards Jack Cameron, Sam Fishbone and Maveric Thisdelle after the GoodLife Fitness training camp was cut to 26 players. What remains is a young squad: an average age of 18.30, an average height of 181.87 cm and an average weight of 82.05 kg, with 12 Canadians, eight Americans, two Austrians and one Russian. Captain Owen Phillips anchors a defence that includes Duncan Anderson, Eddy Doyle, Malik L'Italien, Cameron Minella, Brady Smith and Nico Uschan, while goaltenders Jack Fichthorn and Carson Mertz share the crease. Up front, the depth runs through Will Bent, Shawn Carrier, Paulo Gualberto Jr., Quinn Kennedy, Oleg Kulebyakin, Nathan Langlois, Cole MacLeod, Patrick McNab, Jayden Napon, Evan Nee, Mateo Nobert, Paul Sintschnig, Jackson Smail and Daniel Walters.
If you are planning to go, it helps to know how the tickets work. A single lower-bowl game runs C$22 to C$30 for adults, C$12 to C$22 for youth 12 and under, C$20 to C$28 for those 60 and over, and C$12 to C$22 for students with a valid ID. The upper bowl is slightly cheaper, with adults at C$22 to C$28, youth at C$12 to C$18, seniors at C$20 to C$24 and students at C$14 to C$18. There are a couple of deals worth knowing: Thursday games on October 8, January 7, February 4 and March 4 are student-only at C$12 in both bowls, and Kid's Day on October 18 drops youth 12 and under to C$10. A 10% CAA discount is available online with a membership number, prices include taxes, and a C$4 order fee applies. Group sales kick in at 10 or more tickets, and memberships range from full season and 15-packs to flex packs, half seasons and a Family Flex 20. Everything goes through Ticketmaster.ca, credit card only, with digital delivery.
The venue is a big part of the draw. The Scotiabank Centre, formerly the Halifax Metro Centre, holds 10,595 for hockey and has been the home of the Mooseheads since 1994. It opened in 1978, was renamed in 2014, and got a 2018 renovation that added a new scoreboard, video board and better fan amenities. The game-night ritual is what people remember: the Moose's glowing red eyes and smoke from its nostrils, the goal song 'You Just Can't Stop the Moose', fan cams, mini-games and the mascot, Hal. Doors open 60 to 90 minutes before puck drop, and a game runs about two and a half hours. Accessible seating is on the concourse level with a companion ticket, and the recommended drop-off is at Gate B at Brunswick and Duke. The building runs mostly cashless, so bring a card and a bit of cash for tips. The Mooseheads have a history here to live up to: they hosted the Memorial Cup in 2000 and 2019, won it in 2013, and have sent the likes of Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin, Nikolaj Ehlers and Zachary Fucale on to the NHL.
