Argyle Fine Art: Art Gallery and Vintage Boutique in Halifax

Located at 1559 Barrington Street, Suite 102, Argyle Fine Art is a downtown Halifax concept store and art gallery that has been operating for 25 years. Established in July 2000, it brings together a selection of retro clothing alongside contemporary art by regional artists. The gallery showcases paintings, drawings, limited edition prints, fibre art, sculpture, and photography, making it a versatile space if you are looking to browse local art or find unique vintage apparel.

The store is run by Adriana, alongside staff members Emily and Casandra, who assist visitors with services like artwork installation, art consulting, subscription packages, and worldwide shipping. Payment options include Debit, MasterCard, and Visa, and the space is wheelchair accessible. Opening hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM (closing at 3:00 PM on Tuesdays), while Mondays and Sundays are closed.

Currently, the gallery is hosting the exhibition "out late, be back soon" by Jack Ross, which runs until July 23rd, 2026. Ross, a Halifax visual artist and NSCAD University graduate who has taught drawing and painting for over a decade, focuses on observational study in his work. He will also lead a live painting demonstration on Sunday, July 26th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (tickets cost C$20). Upcoming events include the "Salt Air & Wildflowers" exhibition by Sabine Kearns starting August 8th, and a Charm Making Workshop with Mable and Rose Handmade on August 16th.

In July 2026, the gallery updated its membership program, launching the Argyle Fine Art Club. It offers two monthly subscription choices: Friends of Argyle, which provides general support to the gallery, and Art Mail, where subscriber members receive small exclusive prints and updates on emerging artists by mail each month. Local artists interested in submitting work for representation can email up to five images along with a CV and artist statement directly to the gallery.
