A 50-table record fair with vinyl, CDs and music memorabilia in the Merchant City, with dealers and collectors sharing stories and music.
VIP Record Fair comes to Merchant Square on Saturday 17 October, bringing around 50 tables of vinyl, CDs and music memorabilia to the Merchant City. It's a one-day affair, open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and it follows the success of their Bellahouston fair earlier in the year. This time they've taken over a large, bright ground-floor space in the heart of the city, so there's plenty of room to move between the stalls without feeling boxed in.
The tables are a mix of professional traders and locals clearing out their own collections, which is where the real variety comes from. You'll find dance, hip hop and soul alongside rock, indie and pop, with rarities, deletions and bargain finds sitting side by side. It's the kind of setup where you can spend an hour digging through one dealer's crates and then jump across the room to something completely different.
There's a social side to it that's hard to get from online shopping: you can browse and smell the vinyl, strike a deal and chat with the sellers about what they've got. The venue's bars and restaurants are right there too, so there's somewhere to unwind after the day's hunt.

Behind the fair is Rob Lythall, who started VIP Record Fairs out of a passion for vinyl and the joy of music lovers coming together. He describes the mission as keeping that spirit alive in welcoming events where collectors, traders and fans share stories and discover music that means something to them. The organisers claim more than 50 years of experience and bill their fairs as the UK's largest and most trusted, held in spacious indoor venues across the country. Entry is from £3, and the fair runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Merchant Square, 71 Albion Street, Glasgow G1 1NY.
