A big-screen visual and sound show taking an epic journey across the cosmos, presented by astronomer Adrian West.
The Night Sky Show returns to The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 1 November, this time as Volume 2: A Sky Full of Hope. It's the sequel to Adrian West's original show, which sold out and got a lot of praise, so if you caught the first one, this is the follow-up. Rather than a dry technical lecture, it's staged as a piece of theatre: big-screen visual effects and sound carry the audience on an epic journey across the cosmos, weaving science fiction and science fact into an entertaining, easy-to-follow format.
Adrian West, better known as VirtualAstro, is the one leading the way. He's a passionate astronomer, presenter and author who runs one of the largest independent astronomy and space accounts on X. He's written for the BBC, the Met Office and the National Trust, and authored the book The Secret World of Stargazing, so he knows his way around the night sky. The show is built on that mix of professional astronomy and a genuine love for the subject, and it's designed to be accessible even if you've never looked through a telescope in your life.
The venue is The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sauchiehall Street, one of the city's most prestigious stages. It puts on nearly 250 performances a year across classical, jazz, pop, rock and folk, and it's home to the RSNO, Scotland's national orchestra. For a show like this, which relies on big-screen visuals and sound to do the heavy lifting, having a proper concert hall to sit in makes a difference.
