A Halloween trail of hidden clues and secrets to uncover the mystery of a vanished servant and a lost treasure at Provan Hall.
The Lost Treasure of Provan Hall runs at Provan Hall on Saturday 31 October, a Halloween trail that turns the old building into a bit of a puzzle. It's a family adventure: you follow a trail of hidden clues and secrets to uncover the mystery of a vanished servant and a lost treasure. The whole thing is pitched as a spooky, interactive experience, and it's aimed at children aged seven and over, who need to be accompanied by an adult.
If you've never been, Provan Hall is worth knowing. It's an A-listed medieval building in Easterhouse, one of the oldest in Glasgow. It started as a fortified manor house for the Bishops of Glasgow, and later became home to wealthy families like the Baillies, who were Lords Provost of the city. It sat abandoned from the 17th century until the Glasgow Corporation restored it in the early 20th century, when it served as a museum and community centre until the 1980s. A £2 million restoration eventually brought it back to the public.
It's still counted among the city's most haunted houses, and the venue leans into that reputation. They run 'History & Horror Tours' led by specialist guides, and you can even hire the hall for private paranormal investigations. This trail sits right in that same spooky territory, though it's the family-friendly side of things rather than a full-blown ghost hunt. It's a good way to see the building while doing something active with the kids on Halloween.
