Fiery all-female Scottish band blending indie folk and Celtic rock live at Saint Luke's.
The Laurettes are playing Saint Lukes and the Winged Ox on Friday 23 October, their first Glasgow date this autumn. They're an all-female Scottish band whose sound sits right between indie folk and Celtic rock, a mix that's made them festival regulars across the UK with slots at Belladrum, HebCelt, TMF and plenty more.
Lauren O'Donoghue and Lynette Beaton front the group, joined by Ari Loughlin on bass, Linzi Miller on electric guitar, Amanda Ballingal on drums and Anna Smart on pipes. They recorded their debut album, Meet Me at the Mainstage, at Wee Studio in Stornoway, and since then they've supported the likes of Jess Glynne, Peat & Diesel and Skerryvore. They're also regular performers at New York Tartan Week, so they've played their fair share of stages both here and abroad.
Meet Me at the Mainstage runs two tracks at once: feel-good party anthems on one hand, and songs about female strength and solidarity on the other. That duality carries over into their live shows, which are known for a few particular crowd-pleasers — the 'Heave Ho, Techno Viking' chant and the 'Dopamine' Dance are the ones that usually get people involved.
