New York roots musician The Bones of J.R. Jones brings his blend of acoustic instruments and retro synths to Cottiers.
The Bones of J.R. Jones play Cottiers on Thursday 25 February, with the show starting at 7:30pm. The Glasgow date is presented by 432, and tickets start from £23.20.
The Bones of J.R. Jones is the solo project of Jonathon Linaberry, an American singer, guitarist and songwriter born in central New York State in 1982. He cut his teeth in punk bands before the field recordings of Alan Lomax drew him in another direction, and he launched the project in 2012. The show works through Radio Waves, his sixth album under the name, recorded with producer Robbie Lackritz, who has worked with Feist and Bahamas. It's a moody, hypnotic exploration of memory and longing that blends acoustic instruments with retro synthesizers.
Linaberry's songs have landed in films and television, including True Detective, Suits and Daredevil, and he's toured the US and Europe billing alongside The Wallflowers, G. Love and The Devil Makes Three. He also scored an Amazon commercial helmed by Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi.
