A night of acoustic renditions of alternative and emo tunes with Lily Kerbey at Cottiers.
Lily Kerbey plays Cottiers on Friday 12 February, part of her Stealth Rock Tour 3. It's a seated gig, so you'll be watching from a chair rather than standing in the crowd.
Kerbey is a Yorkshire-based singer and guitarist who's been performing live since 2013, which puts more than a dozen years of professional experience behind her. She describes herself as an 'elder emo' musician, and that's a good shorthand for what she does: she takes heavier alternative and emo tracks and reworks them into a soft acoustic style. The set draws from bands like Slipknot, System of a Down, Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens and Sleep Token, alongside nostalgic names like Nirvana, Nickelback and Avril Lavigne. She also mixes in 2000s crowd-pleasers from S Club 7 and Bonnie Tyler, so the songs come from a fair few different places.
That 'stealth rock' approach is something she's known for beyond the stage, too. She brings it to weddings of all sorts — from clifftop ceremonies in Portugal to intimate DIY woodland gatherings — where the nostalgic touch is meant to work without alienating the grandparents. This Glasgow date is part of the Stealth Rock Tour 3, and it's a seated show, so it's more of a night for sitting back and listening than one for the pit.
