A high-energy musical adaptation of the classic 1920s Hollywood film, featuring sumptuous set designs and a legendary score.
Singin' In The Rain comes to the King's Theatre from Tuesday 20 April to Saturday 24 April 2027. It's a stage adaptation of the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green with songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed. The story is set in Hollywood in the roaring 1920s and follows the golden couple Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, whose lives are turned upside down when 'talkies' begin to replace silent movies and an aspiring actress is drafted in to save the day.
The production leans on the original MGM score, with 'Good Morning', 'Make 'em Laugh' and the title track all making an appearance. That's paired with high-energy choreography and set designs that pour more than 14,000 litres of water onto the stage every night. It's directed by Jonathan Church, with choreography by Andrew Wright and set and costume design by Simon Higlett. The production is brought to the stage by Chichester Festival Theatre, Stage Entertainment and Sheffield Theatres.
