A session of musicians from Shetland, led by Jenna Reid and Ross Couper, at The Barony Hall for Celtic Connections 2027.
Jenna Reid and Ross Couper bring Shetland Night to The Barony Hall on Saturday 23 January 2027, with a few friends joining them on stage. It's a night built around the music of Scotland's northern isles, and as the name suggests, the focus is on the Shetland sound. Reid and Couper are the two names leading it, and the 'friends' part of the bill means there'll be a few more musicians in the mix for the evening.
The night is part of Celtic Connections 2027, the city's big winter festival and international celebration of Celtic music. Glasgow Life runs it across around 25 venues on both sides of the Clyde, with around 300 events over 18 days and an estimated 1,200 musicians and artists taking part. The 2027 edition opens with the world premiere of Scotland's GRIT Orchestra, so this falls a few weeks into the festival's run.
Shetland Night brings together some of the finest musicians from Scotland's northern isles for an evening steeped in tradition, community and a distinctive island sound. It's a session in the truest sense, with Reid and Couper at the heart of it. The music comes from the far north, and the whole thing is presented as a celebration of that particular tradition.

The venue is The Barony Hall, part of the University of Strathclyde on Rottenrow in Glasgow city centre, G4 0RA. It's one of the many spots across the city that hosts Celtic Connections events throughout the festival, so if you're spending the winter following the programme, this is one of the dates to keep in mind. The night is on Saturday 23 January, with Jenna Reid, Ross Couper and friends leading the way.
