A dance-theatre piece combining physical theatre, dance, dialogue and music, exploring themes of ageing, loss and resilience.
Revel comes to the Citizens Theatre on Friday 23 October, a brand-new dance-theatre piece that marks the long-awaited return of Scotland's Company Chordelia. It's created and performed by the company's founding Artistic Director Kally Lloyd-Jones alongside Edinburgh dance artist and choreographer Steinvรถr Palsson, and it's part of their 2026 Scottish tour.
The show is a 60+ coming-of-age story, and it does a few things at once: it fuses dance, physical theatre, dialogue and music. The action is set in the dressing room of every show the two have ever been in, and the piece moves between their real relationship as they get ready and the surreal inner worlds that reflect the losses, gains and adjustments of ageing. The two acclaimed Scottish performers navigate their memories and the shifting realities of their bodies and minds with wry humour, in a piece they describe as being about adaptability, resilience, loss, irreverence and joie de vivre.
On stage, it's Lloyd-Jones and Palsson performing together. Lloyd-Jones created and directed the piece, and the choreography was a joint effort between the two of them. The set is by designer Janis Hart, with lighting by Kate Bonney. It's funded by Creative Scotland's Touring Fund and supported by Dance Base, The Work Room's Residency programme, Byre Youth & Community Arts, Luminate and Magnetic North.
