Annual kids Halloween party with retro video games, tabletop games and spooky movies, with a costume parade and trick-or-treat bags.
R-CADE is hosting its annual kids Halloween party on Saturday 31 October, from 4:40pm to 6:40pm. It's part of their regular kids programme, so if you've been there before, you'll know the drill: retro gaming and Halloween costumes. The session is aimed at children aged 8 and up, and costumes are encouraged, with a costume parade during the afternoon. Every child takes home a trick-or-treat bag with sweets and toys.
For those who haven't visited, R-CADE is a fully inclusive retro-gaming venue in Glasgow's East End, built for gamers of all ages. Its custom arcade cabinets house home consoles from the last five decades, from Atari and Binatone to Nintendo, Sega, PlayStation and Xbox, with more than 2,000 games across 20 consoles. It's the kind of place where you can jump from a 1980s classic to something from the 2000s without leaving the room.
The party runs alongside the venue's cafe, which has over 300 board games to play all day, plus hot and cold drinks, toasties, hot dogs and cake. If you're bringing younger ones, there are a few things to keep in mind: under-12s must have an adult stay in the venue, though they don't need a ticket and can wait in the cafe. Under-8s can play board games in the cafe for free, though space there is limited. The venue is family-friendly from 12pm to 7pm, and then switches to over-18s from 7pm to 10pm.
