A two-hour retro gaming session for children aged 8-14 to make new friends through multiplayer games, with parents able to relax in the cafe.
R-CADE is running its Friendship Club this Friday 16 October, a two-hour multiplayer gaming session for kids aged 8 to 14. It's one of a series of dates running from 21 August to 20 November, with the next ones on 6 and 20 November, so if this one doesn't fit, there are a few more to choose from. The session runs from 4.40pm to 6.40pm at R-CADE, 121 Saltmarket in the city centre.
For those who haven't been, R-CADE is a family-friendly retro arcade in Glasgow's East End, just a short walk from Glasgow Green. It's built for gamers of all ages, with custom arcade cabinets that house home consoles from the last five decades — Atari and Binatone, Nintendo, Sega, PlayStation and Xbox. There's also more than 300 board games to play all day, so it's not just about the screens. The Friendship Club is the arcade's community session for the younger crowd: two hours of multiplayer gaming with staff picking age-appropriate titles, so the kids can make new friends while parents relax with a cuppa in the cafe.

It's not just for the kids, either. Beyond the club, the venue runs over-18s retro gaming nights, casual Magic: The Gathering sessions, weekly board game meetups and annual Halloween parties, so there's plenty to do even when the Friendship Club isn't on. Pre-booked arcade passes are required and bought online, and the session costs £14.
